DB and WOL - what’s behind it?
Deutsche Bahn is Germany’s largest transportation company with its headquarter in Berlin. With over 300,000 employees, the company is divided into a number of companies, including DB Fernverkehr (long-distance passenger transport), DB Regio (local passenger transport) and DB Cargo (rail freight transport). The subsidiary DB Netz also operates a large part of the German railway infrastructure.
WOL, short for “Working out Loud”, is a concept that is already used in over 50 countries and by a large number of companies. Based on peer coaching, networking and knowledge management, participants in a “WOL Circle” are to communicate better with their own network and achieve their goals.
The explainer video was supposed to focus on the advantages of this self-learning method as well as on the possibilities that open up from digital tools and your own network. The aim was to explain the WOL concept and of course to motivate the own employees to participate.
For us at Cleverclip it was important to make the video as vivid as possible and to address the viewer emotionally as well as arouse curiosity. This was not easy, because DB employs an enormous number of employees from different areas and therefore with different interests and preferences. So we were faced with the task of convincing an enormously large and diverse target group of different age groups. But: Challenge accepted!
The result is a colorful 2D motion character animation that focuses on the universal benefits of the program. Employees from different DB departments come together and work in smaller groups to get closer to their personal goals. The main protagonist Max takes us on a visual journey through his WOL experience and shows how he was able to grow beyond himself and give the whole team new perspectives.
All in all, the video creates a very pleasant atmosphere and awakens the desire to become a part of the WOL experience. We were pleased with the positive feedback on our final result and would like to thank DB for their cooperation.
