Thanks to Swiss-Ski and Sunrise, it is possible to offer a day of snow sports to over 8,000 children in grades 3-6 from all over Switzerland every year. We were allowed to record this offer in an explanatory video. The main target group are the children involved, or their teachers: because at school, the video gives them a first impression of what to expect on this exciting day.
One of the big A’s and B’s of an explainer video is the target group. And this time it was the very young ones. On the one hand particularly exciting, on the other hand a big challenge. What language has to be used? What humour works? What does the visual level have to offer and how do we manage to fully motivate the children for this day?
Another challenge was to meet the request to include well-known faces from Swiss snow sports in the video. So the voice-over text not only had to be coherent for the children, but also partly recorded by sportsmen and sportswomen. And then there was also a very specific music request…
The result is a funny, cheerful video that appeals visually to school-age children and captivates them with the story. Bright faces in the illustrations, a portion of wit and different elements in the voice-over make the whole thing exciting and not only make children’s eyes light up.
The visual elaboration of the familiar faces gives the video a certain portion of extra. But that’s not all: Marco Odermatt and Fanny Smith lent their voices for parts of the voice over and Pat Burgener even played his song live with the ukulele especially for the video.
The collaboration was an exciting challenge – many people were involved, but that’s exactly what led to the creation of this video the way it was. With a lot of passion, motivation and teamwork on all sides, it was tweaked until the result was really convincing.
Swiss-Ski has been organising snow days with school classes for more than 15 years, which have been steadily expanded and now cover the whole of Switzerland. There are many different faces behind the Snow Days: initiator Swiss-Ski, main sponsor Sunrise, the participating ski resorts and many other partners. The Snow Day is intended to give pupils the opportunity to learn and, above all, have fun in a ski resort in Switzerland for one day with professional ski instructors. And it doesn’t matter whether they are absolute beginners or almost pros – everyone should have the opportunity to try out the sports of snowboarding and skiing.
