Generali Switzerland: Video messages for the employees

As every year, we had the opportunity to visually support Generali Switzerland in the communication of their strategic planning. In addition to a revised interactive graphic, this year’s focus was on interviews with interactive animations in isometric style.

Über Generali

Since 1987, Generali has been pursuing one goal: to enrich the lives of its customers with simple and personal insurance solutions and to accompany them on their personal journey through life. In doing so, Generali offers solutions for various life situations. These include property, legal protection, and life insurance as well as pension solutions.

The challenge

Let’s take a brief look at last year’s project. Perhaps you also remember the exciting interactive graphic we created for Generalis employees? The main aim was to present important strategic priorities in a comprehensible, informative, yet clear way. This time, we have revised a few points and prepared the strategic focal points for the year 2021. But that was not all, of course.

As with most of us, COVID also had an impact on Generali Switzerland’s day-to-day business and communications planning. Face-to-face meetings and on-site exchanges were not possible for the start of the year. In order to still make the management visible to all Generali employees, the internal information transfer had to be created in a different way. And this is exactly where we came in: We were asked to produce 5 different videos in which the management of Generali Switzerland communicates the focus of its business units in an interactive way.

That sounds quite straightforward at first glance. Just turn on the camera, action, and let’s go!But if creating professional videos would be so easy, all amateurs would be Steven Spielbergs. But in fact, hurdles came at us from different directions. The first challenge was the creation of the storyboard. The animations had to be compatible with the movements of the protagonists. We had to work in detail so that the protagonists knew exactly where, how, and what they should move or point during the shoot. Of course, the animations were created only afterwards.

In addition, 3 different parties were involved: the client, the Cleverclip team, and another agency that supported us in shooting the film. This required excellent coordination and communication on all levels.
And last but not least: the short time frame. We only had 4 weeks to create 5 videos. Not for the faint of heart and even less for people with bad time management.
Well, we might not be Steven Spielbergs, but we are still Cleverclip. For this reason, of course, we have overcome all hurdles successfully 😉 .

The solution

We chose an isometric style for this video because it is modifiable and flexible. The recording by the external agency also turned out excellently. Overall, front and side cameras were used, resulting in a natural cut afterwards. Our project manager Nick put his heart and soul into mastering all the steps in such a short time.
“My daily routine actually revolved exclusively around calls with the creatives on this project,” Nick says, looking back on some very busy weeks. But hard work pays off. The video conveys all the information in a personal, authentic and entertaining way – just the way Generali Switzerland wanted it. And more importantly, the videos received a lot of positive feedback from Generali employees. Mission successfully accomplished.

Every step in this project had to be coordinated so that all the pieces of the puzzle could be put together at the end. The result is a coherent end product.
